Shri Pradip Mukherjee
Dear Colleagues,
A very Happy New Year 2025, to one and all! On this Coral Anniversary of BRIT, as we embark on 2025, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our valued customers, dedicated employees, and esteemed partners.
May the hard work, dedication and achievements make the upcoming year, a successful one. To the most hardworking and dedicated employees, I wish you all the success in the upcoming challenges this year. May we grow our business together to new heights!
I want to take a moment to look back on the achievements of the Year 2024, and thank you all for the milestones we could contribute over the past 12 months.
This year has been yet again a very successful year for the Board of Radiation & Isotope Technology (BRIT), with more customers being added in the data base, the release of new products and the expansion of our customers, due to partner network with BARC & other DAE Units. BRIT launched new radiopharmaceutical products using excellent quality nca-177Lu radiochemical (production from irradiated enriched Yb-176 target) for clinical testing of the 177Lu-DOTA-TATE and 177Lu-PSMA-617 radiopharmaceuticals in patients suffering from neuroendocrine cancer and prostate cancer, limited doses of Bhabhasphere were produced and supplied in the year 2024, along with in-house developed dose delivery system towards the treatment of unresectable liver cancer.
BRIT has also developed and launched a new product useful in NDT industry, ROTEX-1 – an Ir-192 based Industrial radiography device, apart from designing a new Molybdenum-99 Transportation Package "MTP-100", using Tungsten as shielding material, to efficiently transport and store liquid Mo-99 radioactive material. This MTP cask will provide an opportunity for exporting fission-generated Mo-99 radioisotopes from India, significantly reducing the costs, which was previously associated with importing these casks. More than 10 orders were executed by BRIT for the chemical and fabrication industry, mainly for column/pipe scanning radiometry services using radioisotopes. A total of 11 Nos. of MoU’s was signed between BRIT and private vendors, during the year 2024, for setting up radiation processing facilities in various parts of the country, . India is now proud to have 35 operational gamma radiation processing facilities in India. Cold commissioning of upgraded ISOMED facility of BRIT is successfully completed. BRIT embarked upon a new domain by exporting its commercial training services on ISO 11137 to an Australian conglomerate at Colombo, Sri Lanka. BRIT has developed and commissioned a state-of-the-art "Low Temperature Gamma Irradiator (LTI)," the first of its kind in India. The plant, which uses Co-60 for irradiation, is integrated with a chilled air unit to maintain the cold chain during the irradiation process and is specially useful for marine product.
Apart from the regular production & supply of products and providing services under various sectors, BRIT participated in 68th IAEA General Conference in Vienna, as part of DAE team. It received accolades of appreciation, especially for LTI and Mobile Food Irradiator (MFI) concepts, which were on the showcase during the conference.
Ever since its inception, BRIT has been the industrial arm of DAE in terms of providing valuable products and services to the society, providing training, continuously improvising quality of its programs, receiving accreditation and certification to almost all of its facilities and broadening portfolio of customer base. As always, we remain committed in our quest to support healthcare, industry, agriculture & research organizations. We have every intent to stay the premier unit of DAE, not only in India, but also in the global scenario. It may sound like a very big challenge indeed, but, with imagination, vision and determination, it can and will happen.
I would personally like to thank all our valued BRIT customers and DAE partners, for their continuous support and dedication - we couldn’t have been where we are now without such a tremendous level of endorsement and support from all of you. I also would like to thank the BRIT team for all the hard work and incredible levels of enthusiasm ensuring that our customers and partners receives the best from us.
Over the past 35 years you all have demonstrated over and over again that our accumulated strength as an organisation is stronger, and made clear that BRIT, although so diverse, as a whole is much greater than the total sum of the parts. This is because we are an ambitious team that sets high goals and a skilled team that works hard to achieve them.
The work we are doing is more relevant than ever today. The products and services we provide are an integral part of people’s lives. Our customers rely on us to keep them connected and informed, and I am pleased to say that in every sector of healthcare, industry & agriculture, they recognise our efforts, so as to serve and delight them.
2025 is set to be another exciting year for us. We can look forward to working further on the many initiatives to deliver the best services and products to our esteemed customers, and bring out a fruitful year.
I, once again, want to thank you all for your continued commitment and effort. Every one of us has an important role to play in the work ahead and I am confident that together we will achieve greater things.
Finally, as I said last year, do spend quality time with your family and look after them well. Take care of your health and yourself. Continue to upgrade yourselves through training and learning new skills. And thank you for being part of the BRIT family.
