Labelled Compounds

BRIT has developed state-of-the-art methods and standardized procedures for the synthesis, purification and quality control /quality assurance of labelled compounds and biomolecules. As Carbon and Hydrogen are fundamental components of all organic compounds, they can be replaced with their isotopes (Carbon-14 and Other Isotopic labelled compound) without altering their chemical properties. These compounds can be detected and quantified with high sensitivity at nanomolar levels of concentration thus making them the favoured choice for biological research.

Tritium labelled compounds

Tritium labelled compounds are used as radiotracers in a wide range of studies such as in biochemistry, enzyme mechanisms, elucidation of organic reaction mechanisms and in environmental sciences for development of crop protection agents.

Special Illuminators

‘Special Illuminators’ are non-electrical light sources used for night-illumination of various gadgets. These are fabricated in the form of sealed glass tubes, internally coated with suitable phosphor material and filled with suitable radioisotope in gaseous form’. The glass tubes are generally made of borosilicate glass. They are having wide variety of shapes and sizes, limited only by glass-working techniques. These light sources have a maintenance-free useful life of 10-12 years.

They find wide range of applications in illumination of various military gadgets where reliability is absolutely essential and also used in commercial and industrial buildings in the form of warning signs, way indicators etc.
