BRIT provides FDG18 injection labelled with positron emitting short lived isotope of fluorine namely 18F-flourine, half-life 109.7 Minutes. FDG Finds major applications in glucose metabolism. The vial contains a sterile isotonic solution of radioactive [18F]-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose injection, suitable for intravenous administration.

It contains not less than 90% and not more than 110 % of the labelled amount of 18F expressed in mCi per ml at the reference time. It may contain suitable preservative and/or stabilizing agents. FDG is to be stored at ambient temperature with appropriate shielding and has a shelf-life of 8 hours from the reference time.
